Local Food
The Farm to Table initiative launched in 2020 to help link farmers from the El Valle region with local residents, particularly seniors and families in need.
Through two generous grants from the New Mexico Farmers' Marketing Association, the El Valle Community Center collaborated with six local producers to purchase goods and re-distribute them at low or no cost to those in need. The program made fresh, nutritious food available to over 40 households in the community, while simultaneously supporting local producers during the economically difficult period of the pandemic. As follow up to this program, the Center has piloted a series of Saturday Morning Community Markets that showcase local produce and other goods produced in the valley. We continue to build relationships with valley producers to help support local agriculture and make fresh produce available in our community. |
El Valle Community Center also provides commodities for local seniors. Through this program, USDA commodities food boxes are distributed to qualifying residents. To learn more about the program, click the button below. |
In 2022, the Community Center opened the El Valle Food Pantry. The pantry offers a selection of goods for residents in need of food support. For more information about the pantry, click the button below.
