The El Valle Community Food Pantry is a community food bank serving the El Valle region. The pantry provides food access and supplies to any community member in need of these resources. Regular offering include a selection of dried and canned fruits, vegetables, grains, cereals, soups, fish, meat, pasta, and sauces. Fresh produce, meat items, and (occasionally) dairy are also available.
The Pantry is set up on the "free choice" model, which allows participants to select their own items based on individual tastes, needs, and dietary or health restrictions. Pantry hours are the same as the Center's hours of operation and participants can “shop” at any time during those hours. How does it work? Participants come to the pantry when convenient and take only those items that they need and will use. Generally, participants will pick up once a week. Some items (e.g. baked goods, produce) may have quantity limits to ensure availability for all. Limits will be posted on pantry shelves with items clearly identified. What is available? Food pantry items focus on basic goods, such as canned fruits, soups, and vegetables, dried cereals, grains and pastas, tinned meat and fish, and basic cooking ingredients such as flour and oil. When available, other items may include dairy, eggs, baked goods, and frozen meats. Do I qualify? There are no requirements to participate in the food pantry. We will ask for your name and a contact number so we can notify you in case of changes in scheduling. We do not ask for identification and do not report any client information.
