A SENSE OF PLACE
Picture
A field in El Valle farmed by former El Valle Community Center board president Vincente Garcia. This land has been in the Garcia family for generations.
The El Valle Community Center and Villanueva Library are located in the village of Villanueva, New Mexico. The building, once the Old Villanueva School, is part of the San Miguel Del Vado Land Grant Tract, and a warranty covenant for the property mandates that it be used in perpetuity for the service of the community. The Center and Library have operated out of the Old Villanueva School since 1985 and have served the community, its families, and its children continuously since that time.
We are a single 501c3 charitable nonprofit. The El Valle Community Center Villanueva Library is a state public library within the New Mexico State
Library system.

GUIDED BY MISSION
The mission of the El Valle Community Center and Villanueva Library is to support, sustain, and preserve the El Valle community and its rich cultural heritage. We do this by offering essential services within a framework that honors the community’s values and traditions.

Our efforts reflect community needs and focus on  library information services and programming, traditional family events, local food and agriculture, digital access, and community history.
