HOME | El Valle Community Center & Library

The history and traditions of El Valle is a long and treasured one. Generations upon generations of families have lived on this land as a hard working people whose ancestry goes back hundreds of years.

The El Valle Community Center is here to celebrate these people and all that have moved here over the decades to live as good neighbors. We want everyone who makes el valle their home to feel welcomed.

Joining in at events at the Center, volunteering, coming to the farmers market, a class, stopping in to use the computer, partaking of the tiendita and food pantry fosters a sense of belonging. Whether old or young or in between, mutually supporting one another in a community is a lifeline. Please take advantage of all or some of what the El Valle Community and Library has to offer.

We are open:

Free firewood for Seniors

Great news for our community! The center has arranged through our representative with Mora-San Miguel Electric Co-op, James Ortiz, to have delivered an amazing amount of logs to the Center that will equate to 48 cords of firewood when cut. Thank you James Ortiz! 🙏

Providing firewood to our seniors is our first priority. Anyone in our community who can cut and split these logs and deliver firewood to seniors can start on Wednesday (October 28th) after signing a waiver that 1) they don’t hold the Center responsible if they get hurt, and 2) they will NOT sell the firewood.

Please come during our open hours 9-4 on Wednesday to sign the waiver or otherwise Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 9-4 or Saturday 9-1 to sign.

For seniors who don’t have a relative or friend to cut and split their own wood we are seeking volunteers to do that for them and deliver it to them perhaps. Or load their truck for them. This can also start on Wednesday 10/28 or anytime after. These volunteers will also need to sign the waiver available inside the Center during open hours.

Seniors who want firewood should let the Center know by calling 575-421-0808 and leaving a message if no one answers. Be sure to include your name and address when calling. The firewood is free.
