In an effort to build local food resources, support local agriculture, and promote healthy food options in the community, El Valle Community Center has launched a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative for residents of the area.
The CSA is a partnership effort of the Center, local producers in the valley, and MoGro, a mobile grocery enterprise serving northern New Mexico communities. The CSA provides weekly bags of fresh fruits and vegetables to participants at reduced cost based on their ability to pay.
Seniors and others enrolled in other food assistance programs will receive the produce bags at no cost.
The weekly produce bags provide a selection of eight New Mexico grown fruits and vegetables, which vary with the season. During the summer, items may include peaches, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, lettuce, carrots, and wild spinach.
Anyone interested in participating should contact the Community Center at 505-660-3434 or email [email protected].
