Among the many important bills passed were those creating an early childhood trust fund, re-establishing a solar tax credit, and putting into place a red flag gun bill. The legislature also took advantage of robust oil and gas revenues and passed a generous budget that included a large Capital Outlay package. As part of that package, the El Valle Community Center and Villanueva Library were awarded $20,000 for infrastructures repairs and improvements.
This month, the El Valle Community Center will hold elections for new board officers. The Center is seeking to replace outgoing interim board president Vincent Garcia, who will be leaving as of February 16th. The Center is also searching for a candidate to fill the position of Treasurer, which has been vacant for the past few months.
Community members interested in joining the board or in serving as officers should contact the Center at 575-421-0808 or 505-660-3434 for more information.
